FAQ's

+ HOW DO I BOOK YOU FOR MY WEDDING?

Drop me an email! I'll check your date is available, and we can set up a date to have a chat about your needs. If you like what you hear, then you'll need to sign my contract and pay a 20% booking fee to reserve your date. Unfortunately I cannot hold any dates without the booking fee and Contract.

+ HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU TYPICALLY BOOK WEDDINGS?

Anything between 1-12 Months in advance - if you would like to book for further in the future, please get in touch for a seperate quote.

+ DO WE NEED TO MEET BEFORE THE WEDDING?

We don't have to, but I find that it helps the photos on the day feel more at ease and natural if you we have at least had a chat prior to meeting in person.

+ WHERE DO YOU USUALLY MEET?

I normally arrange a table at the Nuthall Inn in Nottingham, but I'm happy to meet anywhere you would like. And if you are based hundreds of miles away, then I'm also available on Skype and Facetime.

+ WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I USE? DO YOU HAVE A BACKUP?

I shoot with Canon simply out of personal preference; I believe a beautiful image has more to do with the person behind the Camera than the equipment itself.

And yes! I always have a backup!

+ DO I MAKE USE OF LIGHTING EQUIPMENT?

I try and shoot with natural light wherever possible as nothing beats its quality, however where there is not enough light I will use my flash/studio lights to get the shots on the day.

+ ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes. I carry full public liability insurance, as well as professional indemnity insurance. Its really a prerequisite for working in the industry, so you should always check with your photographer that they have organised this as a bare minimum.

+ DO YOU WORK WITH AN ASSISTANT?

Yes, my girlfriend Abigail assists with most of my weddings. A second set of hands is a massive help on the day with organising formal shots and gear. She's also a stellar organiser, and keeps a calm head when things hit a snag - I couldn't do without her.

+ DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

YES! I love destination Weddings!! I include 50 miles of travel in your package, thereafter its 40p/mile as well as any tolls or flights etc.

+ HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED FOR TAKING PHOTOS?

For the Best results on your day I recommend the following:

Décor: 30-45mins (This needs to be ready to be photographed before I come to the bride) Bride Details & before the Ceremony: +/- 45 min Bride Getting Dressed: +/- 30min Bridal Portraits: +/- 30min Groom Details & Getting Dressed: +/- 30min Groom Portraits: +/- 30min Ceremony: 45 min to 1 hour Family and Bridal Party: 20 to 30 min Couple photos: 30-60min Reception: Depends on the amount of time left.

+ DO YOU ALLOW OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS ON THE DAY?

I don't mind other people at the wedding taking photos - its quite normal, and I'm not such a control freak that I would ever ask them not to. However, I would ask that people put down their cameras while the formal photographs are taking place. Its distracting to the subjects, and detracts from the quality of my shots. Equally, while we are doing the couples photos, I find that having another presence can be quite disturbing - so unless there is a specific reason, I ask that the couples portraits are just us three.

+ HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHS WILL I GET?

I try capture every moment of the day – and I'll never put a limit on the number of shots I send out. If I think it is a good shot, then I will send it on through to you. For a full day shoot this often comes out to somewhere between 300 and 500, but it could be more or less depending on what I get.

+ DO WE HAVE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A MEAL?

You don't have to, but it is appreciated. Although I do aim to get at least some photos during the wedding meal, I find that most people dont tend look their best while eating. As such, this makes a good time to have a bit of grub before carrying on into the night! If you are having a cash bar I ask if you could kindly organize refreshments for us as well.

+ CAN YOU TAKE TABLE SHOTS OF ALL THE GUESTS?

I will take photojournalistic shots of people’s reactions throughout the evening however we don’t take table shots, if you would like photos of all your guests then I suggest organising a photobooth!

+ CAN YOU REMOVE MY DOUBLE CHIN, MOLE, ADD A FLOWER, NICER SKY ETC?

I do all my own editing so I can tweak things here and there when needed. However, I do still try and keep my editing as natural as possible and I'd rather pose you correctly to avoid the double chins etc. That said, if there is anything particularly distracting in an image I will do my best to remove it!

+ HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE WE CAN SEE OUR PHOTOS?

I'll always aim to get your photos to you as quickly as possible, but because of the amount of work that goes into your images it normally takes around 2-4 weeks to fully edit and upload your online gallery. At particularly busy times, this can take up to 12 weeks...but that really is a worst case scenario.

Albums will be ready only after images have been selected and the design approved which can be an additional 2-4 weeks for printing.

+ ANY OTHER ADVICE I COULD GIVE A COUPLE?

Try to enjoy it! Focus on quality – you want these memories to last a lifetime so it’s really something worth investing in. There is nothing worse than having the biggest day of your life and then nothing to show for it.

+ DO YOU OFFER COFFEE TABLE BOOKS?

I firmly believe in printing your moments! I offer a range of beautifully crafted albums that you can choose from after your wedding day.

+ WHO SELECTS THE IMAGES FOR THE ALBUM?

To get the album to you as soon as possible I will select what I feel are the best images for your album and send a proof to you for approval.

+ DO YOU ONLY SHOOT WEDDINGS?

Not at all! I'll shoot anything you want. I obviously specialise in weddings and portraits, but I also shoot adventure photography and all sorts of other projects. If you have something in mind, then drop me a line on the contact form and lets have a chat!

+ DO WE OWN THE RIGHTS OF THE PHOTOS THAT YOU TAKE OR DO YOU?

I believe that my clients pay me for the photos I take and therefore they should own the rights to their photos! You may post them anywhere you like, use them for stationary, even print them on canvas for your home! The only thing you can’t do is claim them as your own work or use them for commercial purposes such as reselling. We do retain the right to use the images to advertise our studio online as in print - but I'll always ask before making you the face of a massive ad campaign!
